Syed Omar's brief biography

Syed Omar was a rich Arab businessman. His hometown is in Tarim, Hadramaut (Yemen) and he came to Singapore before the founding of Singapore in 1819. He was highly respected to the extent to he was looked up upon by Malaysians as a prince. He came to Singapore from Palembang following his uncle, Syed Mohammed bin Harun Al Junied.
