Syed Omar's contributions impact on Singapore
Syed Omar was a philanthropist and donated many things, which included a huge plot of land in Victoria Street for the building of a Muslim cemetery and a mosque in Bencoolen Street. Others included St Andrews Church’s land and a large sum of money for the building of Tan Tock Seng Hospital. These all had a positive economic impact on Singapore. Thus, his contributions helped Singapore greatly in building some of the very popular buildings in Singapore and helped Singapore greatly as Singapore was not financially strong or stable at that time.
